Christians Share The Funniest Ways “TVGuardian” Censored Curse Words

June 23, 2021

Thousands of Christian parents all of the country were so encouraged when they heard about “Curse-Free TV”. The premise is simple: The system listens and looks for any type of profanity, and replaces it with a similar, less offensive word that is OK to be heard in your perfect Christian home.

For an example, here’s a scene from Pulp Fiction with the TVGuardian filter on:

If only the English language were so simple. Sometimes, we use words that in some contexts may be acceptable, but in another, it’s offensive. Thankfully, this caused a lot of entertainment, and even taught some kids some new bad words.

We asked our readers and followers to send us their favorite moments from when TVGuardian and Curse-Free TV went wrong, and the responses are GOLD:

When watching Father of the Bride, he sings “What’s New Pussycat”. It censored it to “What’s New Wimp Cat”

CFTV would bleep out “jugs” on Survivor. Everybody scrambling to get their water***** was pretty funny

Sex=hugs. ALWAYS. Even when it means gender: “What’s the baby’s hugs?”

In Dumb and Dumber someone said “kiss my ass”- it censored it to “kiss my sandwich”

My family had Guardian on our DVD player. Whenever we watched Toy Story it would censor Woody’s name

Die Hard: “Yippee ka-yay mamacita!”

A main characters name was Dick….made for a very confusing movie

In “The Help”, the infamous “Eat my shit” line changed to “Eat my spit” which made absolutely no sense

Cloverfield: “Did you now that he and Beth hugged? They had hugs” I was a very confused 8 year old

It couldn’t say “balls” so it kept referring to chocolates as malted milk ‘tails’

Josie and the Pussycats became Josie and the Wimps haha

I learned “pussy” was a bad word because it kept muting “Puss in Boots” in Shrek and asked my mom why it was being bleeped

Christian parents were just trying their best with what they had at their disposal, but we can all thank them for the endless entertainment it provided.
